Located in the East of Moorea. A
right wave rolling around the cape. This wave consists of
5 to 7 tubes depending on the conditions. It is a very
long and dangerous wave and considered as one of the best
on the planet, however the spot is not very often good to
surf.
FAVORABLE WINDS
If the wind is feeble, less than 5
knots, all wind directions are good for surfing. For other
conditions please find hereafter the wind directions with
specifications.
Southwest to South Southwest
South to South Southeast
- Wind stronger than 15 knots :
agitated water except in the last section
- Wind less than 15 knots
: little agitated at the beginning of the wave
thereafter calm
Southeast
- agitated water except in the last
section which remains calm
SWELLS - GOOD TO SURF
South Southeast
- Wave height in meters = (H1/3 in
meters) x L x 0.9. For the calculation of the wave
height, the coefficient "L" depends on the wavelength
of the swell. Use 1 for short swell, 1,5 medium swell
and 2 for long swell.
- Wave higher than 1 m - good
conditions.
South Southwest
- Wave height in meters = (H1/3 in
meters) x L x 0.7
- Wave higher than 1 m - good
conditions.
UNFAVORABLE CONDITIONS
Northwest to North to Northeast to
East Southeast swells create
closing waves which break occasionally to the left.
Those swells are not good to surf and make this spot dangerous
if the waves are higher than halve of the height of the
good waves. Calculation of the height of the waves for
these conditions is : H = (H1/3) x
L x 1
