TE AVA INO

Photo Gallery

A few kilometers South of Te Ava Iti, just before Teahupoo, is the small and shallow Te Ava Ino passage. Here we talk about a left active wave even at a small swell. The right wave is also ok to surf, however very irregular.

FAVORABLE WINDS

If the wind is feeble, less than 5 knots, all wind directions are good for surfing. For other conditions please find hereafter the wind directions with specifications.

South-East to East Southeast and North Northwest to Northwest

  • Wind less or equal to 15 knots : agitated water at the beginning of the wave, calm thereafter
  • Wind stronger than 15 knots. : this spot can not be surfed

East to East Northeast to North

  • Calm water

SWELLS - GOOD TO SURF

Southwest to South Southeast

  • Wave height in meters = (H1/3 in meters) x L x 1.2. For the calculation of the wave height, the coefficient "L" depends on the wavelength of the swell. Use 1 for short swell, 1,5 medium swell and 2 for long swell.
  • Wave height between 1 and 2 m good conditions.
  • Comment : active waves

UNFAVORABLE CONDITIONS

West Southwest to West Northwest swells create closing waves. Those swells are not good to surf and make this spot dangerous if the waves are higher than halve of the height of the good waves. Calculation of the height of the waves for these conditions are

West to Northwest: H = (H1/3) x L x O.8
