On the north coast this small islet is off
the beach of Mahina. A long left, not too difficult and
the last bowl can create a nice tube even with little
water.
FAVORABLE WINDS
If the wind is feeble, less than 5
knots, all wind directions are good for surfing. For other
conditions please find hereafter the wind directions with
specifications.
West to South-West to South
South-East
West North-West
South-East to East, wind less than 10
knots
- Calm water early in the morning,
agitate later
SWELLS - GOOD TO SURF
North North-West, North-West
- Wave height in meters = (H1/3 in
meters) x L x 0.9. For the calculation of the wave
height, the coefficient "L" depends on the wavelength
of the swell. Use 1 for short swell, 1,5 medium swell
and 2 for long swell.
- Wave height between 1 and 3 m good
conditions.
- Comment : good waves
North
- Wave height in meters = (H1/3 in
meters) x L x 1
- With a wave height between 1 and 3 m,
the spot is good.
- Comment : waves with a tendency to
close.
UNFAVORABLE CONDITIONS
North to North-East to East swell
creates closing waves and make this spot dangerous
if the waves are higher than halve of the height of the
good waves. Calculation of the height of the waves for
these conditions is : H = (H1/3) x
L x 1
